An Eagle Scout’s Letter to Boy Scouts of America on why he can’t in good conscious keep his Eagle Badge.

Within a month of turning 15, I got my first job and had to leave Scouting. I was only a few badges away from the rank of Eagle. 15 years later, I came out.

Only now do I wish I had been able to stick it out so I too could return it.

It’s also worth nothing that Baden-Powell - the founder of Scouting - wasn’t exactly the embodiment of heterosexuality.
